History
San Bernardino County Department of Veterans Affairs (County VA) was created in 1926 to help local veterans and their families obtain veterans’ benefits from federal, state, and local agencies. San Bernardino County VA is the oldest veterans’ service office in California and one of the oldest in the nation.
Since the department’s inception, the Board of Supervisors has continued to recognize the need for professional veterans’ advocates to provide claims assistance to approximately 175,000 veterans and their families who live in this county.
County veteran service offices are an important part of the nation’s veterans’ advocacy network. County VA is often the initial point of contact for veterans who are seeking benefits earned through their military service. County VA employees work diligently to secure benefits for our clients.
